one year down, 14 to go

I'm happy to report that Carter successfully finished his first year of preschool. I'm thrilled beyond words to know that Carter enjoyed his first school experience as much as he did. He loved his teacher, made wonderful new friends, learned a lot, created works of art and took pride in his daily jobs in class. Never did he cry or resist going to school...each day was happily anticipated and he usually came home knowing a new song or having a fun story to tell. I love that he loves to learn and can only pray that this desire to grow stays with him for his entire school career.

Here's Carter all ready for the last day of school. He grew so much - 40.5 inches and 38 pounds in September and 42.5 inches and 41 pounds in May.

Carter and his best buddy Brooks celebrating their last day of Spanish with a little fiesta.

Singing program night. Carter and his classmates sang "This Little Light of Mine," and "The Numbers Rumba." Very cute. Still not a lot of singing from Carter, but at least he did all the dance moves.

Big finish!

Carter and his wonderful teacher, Miss Laura. She wrote the following on his end of the year assessment, "Carter is very bright and very independent. He communicates well even if it's to disagree with me (gotta love that, Nana insists the same thing was said about me in preschool!)! :)...He interacts well with is peers and keeps everyone else in line and focused on the task at hand." It made me laugh to know that I'm not the only one he corrects on a daily basis - it's his way or the highway and he likes things just so. Again, I wonder where he could have possibly learned those behaviors?!?!

Overall a fabulous year and a terrific start to many years of school.
