Pizza!

I decided it would be fun to involve the kids in dinner preparation one evening. Carter loves to help do anything in the kitchen and Kennedy is happy to do anything that Carter is doing. So I figured making homemade pizza together would be a simple dinner to prepare together (no stove, no sharp knives, etc.). Boy, did we have fun. Carter loved having a hand in each step of the process and was so excited to show Daddy our dinner when he got home. It was a little messy and the pizza was definitely not as good as if we had gone to a restaurant, but the experience was what we were after and we had a great time!
As we sat down to eat our meal, Carter proclaims, "I'd like to be a pizza maker when I get big. That and a football player of course." Dream big, my boy.

Adding the toppings. Take notice of Kennedy off to the side, stuffing her mouth full of cheese. She couldn't get it in there fast enough!

we are thankful

It's always nice to be reminded of all the blessings that the Lord has given us. Thanksgiving, while it has never been one of my favorite holidays, is the perfect time to reflect on all that we have to be thankful for. It is so easy to get lost in the day to day muck of life and to forget how truly blessed we are. I have a loving and forgiving God, a wonderfully supportive and devoted husband and two healthy children who are happy. These are the important things in life...

We spent Thanksgiving with Kyle's family at his Aunt Peg's house. It was great company and delicious food. A good day, indeed.

We snapped a few shots for our Christmas card - this wasn't the winner but it's a preview of what should arrive in your mailboxes soon. Seriously, getting four people to look at the camera and smile AT THE SAME TIME is about impossible.

yummy

We happened upon candy apples in a Halloween book that we'd been reading and Carter was excited to make them on his own. I think the idea was better than the end result but we had a wonderful time making them together.

I'm glad I had some helpers unwrapping the entire bag of caramels!

Nana was here to help, as well, and both kids got in on the action...
