We made our annual trip to Cannon Beach to visit the Sackmans at the end of June. The weather wasn't great, but it actually worked out pretty well. It was a little drizzly, but that left the beaches deserted and the wind not so fierce. I always love our time at the beach...it's such a beautiful spot and holds such great memories for me. I could go every day and just watch the waves, it never gets old! The kids love it, too, and it's made even better because we get to see fun friends.
After lunch at Mo's we had to make a trip into town and a stop at Bruce's Candy Kitchen was in order.
Always fun!
A damp walk along the beach
We found a ton of jelly fish that had washed up on the shore. Kennedy was brave enough to touch one. They kind of looked like breast implants, really, and were smaller than I would have thought. Not nearly as scary looking as when they're in the water.
poor Nana was awfully cold, but she's such a trooper!
Kyle and Nick enjoyed a few hands of pinochle. These two are great friends and I love to see their relationship continue. I think with men it's not always as easy to keep in touch, but Nick does a great job of calling and checking in. And then when they're together it's like no time has passed.
The crazy kids decided to go swimming!
And who went in with them...Nana! Poor Nana!
pretty soon, all shirts were off and they were fully swimming.
the water was surprisingly warm ~ I think compared to the cooler air temperature, the ocean actually felt good. Crazy!
My silly girl, swimming in the ocean with jeans and no shirt!
Got the kids dried off and then enjoyed a little viewing of the Goonies...a must see at the beach!
Then they were off to explore a bit more.
Kennedy really wanted to explore the tide pools, so the daddies took the kiddos down to Haystack Rock once the tide went out. They all had fun searching for starfish and other marine creatures.
Carter and Finley
a very happy day at the beach!
